Environment is becoming one of the most decisive areas for Ukraine’s recovery. Reconstruction projects now sit under increased scrutiny from regulators, donors, and the public – especially where war debris and hazardous waste are involved. At the same time, Ukraine’s ongoing EU-alignment and climate commitments continue to shape environmental regulation, permitting, and compliance expectations across sectors.
Koziakov & Partners is actively developing its Environment practice as a recovery-focused, practical offering built on long-standing environmental and climate expertise. We combine experience in environmental policy and climate-related regulation with hands-on legal support for today’s priority workstreams: hazardous waste management, donor compliance, landfill and waste infrastructure projects, and the environmental dimension of demining and land restoration. Current workstream supporting a project focused on establishing an asbestos-containing waste landfill and disposal solution, including structuring, land and permitting pathways, operator compliance requirements, and contract design.
